Could you help us provide three meals a day to the men who reside at Unity Acres?
Since the mid-1990s, we have been using the Food Bank of Central New York website and other vendors for help. It’s all healthfully supported by fresh produce from our large vegetable garden and pigs raised in the barn. Both are tended by our residents.
Each of these efforts is key in helping with the cost of feeding our men. But it’s not enough. The cost to us is just over $5 per day which feeds one man three nutritious meals.
We feed approximately 65 men, 795 nourishing meals a day- 71,175 meals each year. Responding to this need, we are looking to rebuild The Acres Food Team and are seeking volunteers.
It reaches back to the Acres’ beginnings that were supported by original Food Team volunteers. Team captains gathered food and donations at a location in Syracuse and delivered it to wherever Unity Acres Founder, Fr. Ray Mc Vey, was serving the homeless.
You can join our effort by becoming a member of the Acres Food Team. Decide how many days you can support the cost of feeding one man. For $5, you feed one man for one day. For $35, you will feed one man for one week. Your donation of $150 will feed one man for one month (30 days) All donations are welcome.
